Germany business morale falls to lowest since 2009; economy ‘in shock’

Company morale in Germany logged its steepest fall in March due to the fact the country’s reunification in 1990, the carefully-watched Ifo Institute for Economic Exploration explained Wednesday.

The German Ifo organization weather index fell to 86.1 in March from 96. in February. The reading through was lower than anticipations of 87.7 and was past at this level in July of 2009.

“The German financial system is in shock,” the Ifo institute claimed on Twitter.

It arrives immediately after data released Tuesday confirmed the euro zone experienced a major collapse in business activity in March.
