U.S. manufacturing action contracted in March as the coronavirus outbreak proceeds to force the economy, information introduced Wednesday by the Institute for Provide Administration confirmed. 

The ISM manufacturing index fell to 49.1 previous thirty day period from 50.1 in February. Activity was driven down by a steep drop in new orders and production, the data showed. 

“The coronavirus pandemic and shocks in worldwide strength marketplaces have impacted all production sectors,” explained Timothy Fiore, chair of the Institute for Supply Administration, in a statement.
