Malaysia’s Key Minister Mahathir Mohamad has submitted his resignation to the king, according to the prime minister’s office.

Mahathir’s resignation followed a weekend crammed with speculation that the ruling coalition which he was top, Pakatan Harapan, could shed energy. Numerous area media, mainly citing unnamed resources, noted that the 94-calendar year-outdated chief would shift allegiance by tying up with the opposition functions to form a new federal government.

Mahathir was Malaysia’s key minister from 1981 to 2003. He became key minister once more immediately after successful the 2018 standard elections against the coalition he as soon as led, Barisan Nasional.
