Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin informed CNBC on Wednesday that the U.S. will not have 20% unemployment – a figure he reportedly warned Republican senators about in a private briefing – if they abide by the Trump administration’s coronavirus program.

“I’ve viewed that variety in the push,” Mnuchin informed CNBC’s Jim Cramer in a television interview. “I did not in any way say I imagine we’re likely to have that.”

“Allow me be very clear: If we follow the president’s system we will not have that,” Mnuchin reported.
